Job Title: Security/EMT
Department: Emergency Services
Reports To: Emergency Services Manager
Summary:
The EMT/Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for all residents, visitors, and staff while protecting Summit Vista property. This role provides emergency medical assistance, responds to security concerns, and ensures compliance with safety protocols. The EMT/Security Guard will also verify the presence of scheduled employees and third-party contractors on-site.
Schedule:
M-F 9 pm-6 am with lots of opportunity for overtime.
Job Functions:
Security Responsibilities:
- Conducts scheduled patrols inside and outside buildings to maintain security.
- Responds to all fire alarms, apartment emergency calls, and security concerns.
- Develops and maintains a strong rapport with residents, family members, visitors, and staff to ensure security procedures align with the needs of the community.
- Assists with special security needs involving employees, visitors, and other community members.
- Provides detailed written reports on incidents, ensuring leadership is informed.
- Maintains clear and safe building entrances, including shoveling snow as needed.
- Reports all safety hazards, security risks, and policy violations immediately.

- Performs light maintenance duties when time allows, such as changing light bulbs and minor touch-up painting.
Emergency Medical Response Responsibilities:
- Provides emergency medical assistance within EMT scope of practice.
Administers first aid and CPR as needed until further medical personnel arrive.
- Assesses and stabilizes individuals experiencing medical emergencies.
- Documents all medical incidents accurately and ensures compliance with HIPAA policies.
- Maintains all emergency response equipment and ensures readiness at all times.
- Supports infection control protocols and follows proper use of personal protective equipment.
Additional Duties:
- Participates in in-service training and educational sessions.
- Supports continuous improvement initiatives within the security and emergency response team.
- Promotes a positive and proactive approach to safety, security, and emergency preparedness.
- Fosters a culture of teamwork and professionalism.
Qualifications:
- Strong observational and decision-making skills with the ability to act quickly in emergencies.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to handle high-stress situations while maintaining professionalism.
- Ability to follow established security and emergency response protocols.
Education & Experience:
- Required: CPR and EMT certification or willingness to obtain within a designated timeframe.
- Preferred: One year of experience in security, emergency medical response, or a related field.
Work Environment:
This role requires mobility throughout the community, responding to medical emergencies, and ensuring the safety of residents and staff. Work may be conducted indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $17.50 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
