POSITION: Security Guard
STATUS: Part-Time/Non-exempt
DEPARTMENT: Security
REPORTS TO: Director of Security
POSITION CONCEPT:
To serve the Mission, Vision and Values of REH, Inc. by always maintaining a secure and safe environment for all patrons, guests, artists, staff and others. Ensure smooth flow of vehicular traffic entering and exiting the property. Shifts will be assigned at any of our venues, including Ruth Eckerd Hall, Bilheimer Capitol Theatre and The BayCare Sound.
ESSENTIAL TASKS:
Inside Duties:
- Limit public access per event specifications.
- Assist ushers as required to ensure that only properly ticketed patrons enter the hall.
- As directed monitor patrons for contraband i.e. cameras, video and audio recording devices, drugs and alcohol.
- Ensure the no smoking rules are enforced.
- Ensure camera policy is enforced.
- Ensure that only properly ticketed patrons re-enter the hall following intermission or during performance.
- During performance, maintain integrity of aisle per applicable fire and safety codes.
- Ensure patrons stay in assigned seats and limit unnecessary movement during performance.
- Ensure access to nonpublic areas is restricted to those with area specific and date appropriate passes.
- Maintain visual surveillance of artists when accessible to the public.
- Monitor parking area for ticket scalpers, re-sellers and bootleggers.
- De-escalate conflict or arrange for police restraint or removal of unruly patrons.
- Respond to emergencies, disturbances, or other problems as observed or when called upon.
- Contact police or medical personnel as may be required and in accordance with company policy.
Outside Duties:
- Provide excellent customer service to patrons as they enter and exit the facility.
- Direct vehicles where to properly park as needed.
- Monitor parking areas during the show.
- Monitor parking areas to ensure proper use of disabled parking.
- Monitor driveways near entrances to ensure timely movement for drop off and pick up.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- Sign in and out per policy.
- Operate with the highest degree of integrity.
- Professionally represent Ruth Eckerd Hall.
- Complete all other duties as assigned.
SKILLS:
- Ability to remain calm and instill order during an emergency or crisis.
- Ability to communicate information and expectations in clearly understandable language and voice.
- Ability to anticipate and/or de-escalate disturbances or unruly patrons.
- Ability to use telephone and two-way radio.
- Ability to relate to a diverse group of people.
- Ability to work well with others to maintain positive working relationships.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or the equivalent required.
- Class D License preferred.
- Two years’ experience in security, police work, EMT or other safety related function sufficient to learn standard security practices and skills preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
- Ability to physically-remove an unruly patron from the premises.
- Ability to access all areas of facility.
- Ability to stand up to six hours in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work irregular hours if needed.
- Ability to maintain good attendance is a condition of employment and a function of this position.
OTHER:
- Maintain company issued uniform and wear as directed.
- Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
- Successful completion of a background check and drug screen.
