Base Pay: $22.63 per hour
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly dependable Detention Guard to help maintain the safety, security, and orderly operation of our federal detention center. This role involves monitoring detainee behavior, enforcing rules, responding to emergencies, and ensuring compliance with facility procedures. Key Responsibilities
- Enforce facility policies, procedures, and post orders to ensure a secure environment
- Monitor detainee behavior and facility areas to maintain order and safety
- Conduct searches to prevent the introduction of contraband
- Respond swiftly to alarms, emergencies, and incidents
- Apply restraints when necessary, following strict safety protocols
- Oversee property inventory and maintain accurate documentation
- Prepare detailed reports on incidents, observations, and daily activities
- Rotate through various duty posts as assigned by management
- Perform physical tasks including standing for long periods, running, crouching, and lifting up to 50 lbs
- Successfully complete required training, including the use of OC (Pepper) Spray for crisis situations
- Carry out other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (Required)
- Strong observational and communication skills
- Ability to stay calm and make sound decisions in high-stress situations
- Willingness to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must meet physical fitness standards required for the position
Additional Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- Must pass a federal background investigation, including criminal and financial checks
- Must be able to pass a drug screening
- Willing and able to work 12-hour rotating shifts (6AM–6PM / 6PM–6AM)
