Job Summary
MAJOR FUNCTIONS
The position facilitates the safe and effective operations of Port Wilmington, through 24-hour patrol of the port’s facilities. This position will perform a broad range of activities depending on the needs of the port and department.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Patrols Port Wilmington grounds to maintain traffic control, detect criminal violations, and detect safety hazards.
- Ensure the facility is provided with high-quality security services to protect people and property
- Report safety concerns, security breaches, and unusual circumstances both verbally and in writing.
- Make frequent inspections of all Port facilities, including parking areas, offices, warehouses, piers, and rail areas
- Works closely with the United States Coast Guard and Federal, State, and local law enforcement agencies.
- Records details of patrol
- Escort visitors, oversize vehicles, and equipment from gates to the destination on the property as necessary.
- Assist at Port of entry gates
- Mandatory overtime is required as needed
- Must participate in overtime as needed to maintain effective and efficient patrol operations.
- Required to perform shift work which may include days, evenings, and nights including weekends and holidays.
- Perform other duties as required
