Job Summary:

Responsible for providing security for employees and visitors. Protects shipyard buildings, assets and premises as assigned.

Performance Requirements:

Patrols facility buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and intruders. Monitors conduct of visitors on premises; confronts unauthorized persons for questioning, as needed. Reports safety and/or fire hazards or security violations.
Participates in investigations; maintains records and prepares incident reports and other documents pertinent to security activities.
Secures and/or unlocks offices and facilities as required.
Controls parking and traffic flow; enforces parking regulations.
Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control.
Maintains records, reports, files as required.
Consults with and keeps supervisor informed of activities, needs and problems in assigned areas.
Responds to calls for assistance in a prompt, courteous and efficient manner.
Attends all meetings and in-services, as required.
Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Ability to read, write, and understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic.
Must be able to make decisions quickly and in accordance with established protocol.
Must have or be willing to be trained in first responder and first aid training.
Two years' experience in security preferred.

Working Environment & Physical Requirements:

Light to moderate physical effort 90% of the time. May be exposed to elements (heat, cold, rain, snow). Ability to push, pull and lift in excess of 50 lbs.
