Security Captain supervises a shift of Security Officers to provide protection and security of hospital assets and employees, patients and visitors.
Shift: 11:00pm - 7:00am *
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Must present a professional demeanor and be able to interface with and provide excellent customer service to a wide range of guests and corporate staff.
- Interprets laws and policies and procedures and communicate interpretation verbally and in writing.
- Required to manage emotional situations and customers under extreme stress.
- Supervises training of new officers and on-going training for current officers.
- Communicates proper information regarding patient or non-patient needs to peers, subordinates, and staff.
- Performs periodic and semi-annual reviews of subordinates.
- Will investigate incidents and complete reports.
- Manages various personnel functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and disciplinary actions.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Education/Training
High school graduate or equivalent. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word for report writing purposes.
Licensure/Certification
- Must obtain a State of Florida Class “D” Security Officer License through the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer
Services within 120 days of hire which must be renewed biannually before the license expires.
- Must obtain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification within 120 days of hire which must be renewed annually before the
certification expires.
- Must obtain a Basic Security Officer Certification or higher level of certification through the International Association of Hospital
Security and Safety within 120 days of hire and maintained at all times during employment.
Experience
Two (2) years security experience, to include one (1) year supervisory or leadership experience.
