Position Overview: The Security Guard plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of residents and staff within our skilled nursing facility. This position requires vigilance, attention to detail, and the ability to respond effectively to various security situations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patrol and Surveillance:
- Conduct regular patrols throughout the facility premises to detect and deter any unauthorized activities.
- Monitor security cameras and alarm systems to identify potential security threats.
- Report any unusual incidents or suspicious behavior to the appropriate authorities.
2. Access Control:
- Manage and control access points to the facility, ensuring only authorized individuals enter the premises.
- Verify the identity of visitors, contractors, and staff.
- Issue and collect visitor badges as needed.
3. Emergency Response:
- Respond promptly to emergency situations such as fire alarms, wanderguard alarms, or security breaches.
- Follow established protocols for emergency response.
- Collaborate with administration, local law enforcement and emergency services when necessary.
4. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and detailed logs of security activities, including patrols, incidents, and observations.
- Complete incident reports for any security-related events and submit them to the appropriate personnel.
- Provide thorough handover reports to the daytime security team and other relevant staff.
5. Customer Service:
- Interact with residents, staff, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
- Address inquiries and concerns regarding security matters.
- Offer assistance to residents and staff when needed, maintaining a helpful and approachable demeanor.
6. Equipment Maintenance:
- Conduct routine checks on security equipment, such as surveillance cameras, alarms, and exits.
- Report any malfunctions or issues to the maintenance department for timely resolution.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in security or a related field preferred.
- Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer skills for operating security systems.
- Physical fitness and ability to walk or stand for extended periods.
Working Conditions:
- The position involves working overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- May require exposure to various weather conditions during outdoor patrols.
