Summary of Primary Duties:
We are seeking a dependable and professional Full-Time Security Guard to support the safety and daily operations of our outpatient Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment center. This position is primarily responsible for monitoring the front entrance, conducting routine rounds of the property, and ensuring clients follow facility guidelines regarding loitering and designated smoking areas.
This role is focused on maintaining a safe, calm, and respectful environment for clients, staff, and visitors. This position does not require advanced security or law enforcement experience but does require strong communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to appropriately de-escalate situations when needed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor the front entrance and surrounding areas of the facility
- Ensure clients are not loitering near entrances, sidewalks, parking lots, or unauthorized areas
- Direct clients to designated smoking areas and ensure smoking policies are followed
- Conduct regular rounds of the property and surrounding grounds
- Observe and report safety concerns, suspicious activity, maintenance concerns, or policy violations to management
- Help maintain a calm and orderly environment throughout the facility grounds
- Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques to help manage tense or disruptive situations professionally and appropriately
- Provide a visible staff presence to support facility operations and client accountability
- Document incidents, concerns, or unusual activity as required
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with clients, visitors, and staff
- Assist staff in maintaining facility rules and expectations when needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Previous security, customer service, behavioral health, or related experience preferred but not required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in a variety of situations
- Ability to effectively de-escalate conflict and redirect individuals when necessary
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Ability to walk the property and remain alert throughout shifts
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be able to pass a drug screening
- Must maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality in a healthcare environment
- Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors as needed
- Ability to stand, walk, and complete routine patrols throughout the shift
Pre-Employment Requirements:
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of all pre-employment requirements, including a drug screening. Candidates must pass the required drug test prior to beginning employment and may be subject to additional screenings in accordance with company policy and applicable regulations. Failure to successfully complete the drug screening process will result in withdrawal of the employment offer or termination of employment eligibility.
Schedule:
Full-Time Monday-Friday 9:00am-4:00pm
OR Monday-Thursday 4:00pm-8:00pm (16 hours)
Work Environment:
This position works within an outpatient behavioral health treatment setting and involves regular interaction with clients receiving treatment services. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, consistency, sound judgment, and respect while helping maintain a safe and structured environment.
Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
