Summary
The Security Officer – Overnight, plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of our guests, team members, visitors, and property. As a visible and approachable presence throughout the hotel, this position is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment while delivering exceptional guest service.
The Security Officer conducts routine patrols, responds to incidents and emergencies, monitors hotel activities, and assists in enforcing hotel policies and procedures. Success in this role requires professionalism, sound judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to remain calm and effective in a variety of situations.

A high level of integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining a secure environment are essential.
Previous experience in hospitality, security, law enforcement, military service, emergency response, or a related field is highly valued. Candidates with CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications, experience with conflict de-escalation, and a genuine passion for guest service will be particularly successful in this role.
Requirements
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Patrol hotel buildings, grounds, parking areas, and public spaces to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Monitor and respond to security, safety, and guest-related incidents in a timely and professional manner.
- Provide a visible presence throughout the property to deter theft, vandalism, and other inappropriate activities.
- Respond to emergency situations including medical incidents, fire alarms, disturbances, and natural disasters in accordance with established procedures.
- Prepare detailed and accurate incident, accident, and activity reports.
- Investigate and document guest, employee, and property-related incidents.
- Assist guests, visitors, and team members with safety concerns, directions, and general inquiries.
- Monitor access to restricted areas and ensure compliance with hotel security procedures.
- Conduct safety inspections and identify potential hazards, reporting concerns to management as appropriate.
- Assist with lost and found procedures and documentation.
- Support hotel management during emergencies, evacuations, and other critical situations.
- Work collaboratively with local law enforcement, fire departments, emergency responders, and hotel leadership when necessary.
- Monitor security systems, surveillance equipment, alarms, and communication devices as assigned.
- Enforce hotel policies while maintaining a professional, respectful, and guest-focused approach.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive hotel, guest, and employee information.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous security, law enforcement, military, hospitality, or related experience preferred.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with guests, team members, and visitors.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in stressful or emergency situations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prepare clear, accurate, and detailed reports.
- Basic computer proficiency, including email and report documentation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of emergency response procedures and safety practices preferred.
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certification preferred or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Ability to patrol indoor and outdoor areas in various weather conditions.
- Ability to climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach as needed.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to respond quickly to emergencies and physically demanding situations.
Schedule Requirements
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work overtime and respond to emergency situations as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $29.20 / hr.
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
