JOB SUMMARY: The Security Ambassador shall be a highly visible, uniformed civilian team member working to achieve a safe environment free of disruptive behavior; provide assistance in times of emergency; and maintain vigilance over various facilities and service as a whole.
One Team! One TARTA! The role of the Security Ambassador will focus on supporting Safety within a new TARTA. In 2026, TARTA adopted a new Strategic Plan 2026 - 2031, as well as new Mission and Vision statements to better capture the transformational journey underway. The Strategic Plan focuses on the customer experience, financial stewardship, operational excellence, and growth. This transformation is powered by a dedicated team of professionals in each department from the leadership team to every front-line (and behind the scenes) team member.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend daily briefings to receive assignments.
- Interact with TARTA personnel, passengers, and the public to establish an official presence and prevent disruptive behavior among TARTA facilities.
- Create detailed reports, documentation, and provide overall assistance to TARTA personnel including computer applications.
- Maintaining a friendly professional demeanor while answering passenger and personnel inquiries.
- Assist passengers with fare system questions and issues combined with inspections to help ensure fare collection.
- Assist passengers with transfers and access to alternate services in times of regular service as well as when services are disrupted.
- Assist in emergencies in and around TARTA facilities by gathering information, summoning emergency personnel, providing logistical support, and providing appropriate first aid when necessary.
- Professional and consistent behavior during performance of job functions ensuring a commitment to safety.
- Conduct a vigilant watch at TARTA facilities to help promote a safe and clean environment for passengers and personnel.
- Implement expert knowledge of service lines to answer inquiries and provide directions.
- Disseminate customer criticism and compliments in a professional demeanor while attempting to address customer issues by offering guidance to various levels of authority.
- An ability to operate TARTA vehicles.
- Observe and report suspicious activities to the proper authorities and personnel with an ability to render assistance when necessary.
- Provide detailed reporting in a timely manner with documentation as specified by Administration.
- Successful completion of required and continuous training

Minimum Qualifications
A combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Certification: Reasonable suspicion testing certification.
- Licensure: Valid driver’s license.
- Other: Requires reliable transportation to and from work assignment, reasonable, reliable, and accessible means of communication during off-duty hours, and flexibility for evenings, weekends, and additional locations as necessary for operations.
Education and Experience
- Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent, Required. Degree in Business, Transportation or related, preferred.
- Experience: Two (2) years demonstrated leadership ability

Physical Effort Required
The Security Ambassador position requires occasional sitting (0.25 to 2.5 hours daily) and continuous standing (5.5 to 8 hours daily). Continuous walking (5.5 to 8 hours daily) is necessary. Occasional lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs (0.25 to 2.5 hours daily) is required, with no lifting/carrying over 10 lbs. Occasional driving (0.25 to 2.5 hours daily) is required for this role. Reaching above shoulder level (0.25 to 2.5 hours daily) and bending/stooping (0.25 to 2.5 hours daily) are required. Pushing/pulling is never required. Fine manipulation is required frequently (2.5 to 5.5 hours daily). The stress level for this role is moderate.
