Position Overview

Hawaii Detective & Guard is hiring Security Personnel to support operations at the world-renowned Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve. This role plays a vital part in protecting guests, preserving natural resources, and supporting safe access to a popular visitor destination managed by the City & County of Honolulu, Department of Parks and Recreation.

What You’ll Do

Assist with managing visitor and vehicle entry to reduce congestion
Provide courteous guidance on parking, rules, and facility access
Stay alert for safety issues, policy violations, or hazards
Communicate promptly regarding incidents or emergencies
Deploy cones, signage, and barriers as directed for traffic control
Conduct foot patrols of gates, lots, and shoreline vantage points
Support coordination with Park Staff to ensure smooth operations

Requirements

Current Hawaii Guard Card
NIMS ICS-100 & IS-700 certifications, or willingness to complete
Clear verbal and written communication skills in English
Able to be outdoors on your feet for extended periods
Professional uniform appearance and customer-focused attitude
Dependable, on-time, and capable of following structured procedures

Ideal Background

Previous outdoor, event, or park security work
Experience with portable radios and basic communication protocols
Strong people-skills with a helpful, positive approach

Shift & Site Coverage

Visitor days (Wed–Sun): Up to 8 officers deployed each day
Non-visitor days (Mon–Tue & holidays): 2 officers maintain security
Typical shifts begin between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM and end by 5:00 PM
