Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Director of Safety and Security, the Alexander Dawson security guard works closely with the lead security officer, security manager, and security directors. Learning and implementing the security post orders and overall job expectations is the foundation of all Alexander Dawson security guards. Possessing the ability to communicate with the security team members and the entire Dawson community is paramount. Gaining knowledge of the overall school culture will enhance the learning curve and aid in development. Dawson seeks a detail-oriented, organized security guard who can think critically and manage various responsibilities.
Essential Functions: The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
Security
Serve as an important part of the security team operations, participating in carpool and other high-profile events and activities on campus, sometimes after hours and on weekends
Perform daily routine campus security checks
Work in conjunction with all security staff, contracted security team, guests/visitors, and vendors
Provide dedicated presence and skills for all Dawson community members
Performs duties of a security guard as required by law
Assists in all drills and all emergencies
General
Follow all security post orders and job expectations
Remain abreast of all calendar entries to maintain awareness of events/activities on campus, internal and external
Communicate and report on guest/visitors and vendor activities as necessary to all security members and leadership
Follow expectations and assign tasks and responsibilities as required
Communicate all information as needed to appropriate supervisors and stakeholders
Responsible for any additional tasks/duties as prescribed by the lead officer, security manager, and directors of safety and security

Qualifications, Education & Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Educational expertise and achievement in security required
Minimum 3 years of security experience
High-level communication skills
Experience working in an educational setting is a plus
Knowledge of computer applications related to departmental job functions
