Physical Rehab-Routine Nursing Assistant
Description Of Position
- The Nursing Assistant provides physical patient care in a safe manner.
SUPERVISION: Reports directly to Nurse Manager and/or Charge Nurse
Responsibilities And Duties
- Demonstrates competency in use of technology and computers for patient charting and related functions.
- Provides physical patient care in a safe manner under the direction of the Licensed Nurse.
- Performs or assists patient with activities of daily living (showering, bathing, dressing, feeding, ambulation).
- Communicates abnormal variances of data (vital signs, pain, etc) to appropriate staff.
- Collects information regarding patient/patient condition: vital signs, intake and output, food intake.
- Consistently utilizes basic decision making skills to complete routine tasks.
- Participates in best practices in a consistent and positive manner; huddles, hourly rounding, bedside reporting, Service Excellence, and the use of the white boards.
- Collaborates with unit staff to provide coordinated patient care.
- Utilizes unit specific equipment competently.
- Competently performs unit specific procedures.
- Is knowledgeable of and actively participates in implementation of Unit PI plan.
- Makes suggestions/recommendations for improved operations.
- Follows established hospital/department safety policies.
- Understands and appropriately responds to the unique combination of cultural variables that professionals and patients/individuals bring to interactions .

Education And Work Experience
- Graduate from high school or GED.
- Basic computer skills.
- Valid drivers license; CPR certified
- Ability to read, write and speak intelligible English; Ability to communicate with patient, family, peers and medical personnel; Ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Requires emotional stability and maturity; Must be adaptable to change, be decisive, and demonstrate foresight; Exhibits organizational and leadership ability.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Work requires a variety of physical activities including sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting and ability to get in and out of vehicle.
- The work environment may be physically confining.
- Must have normal hearing.
- Visual acuity is required.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
- Good manual dexterity required for keyboard activities.
- Ability to work weekends and overtime
