POSITION JOB TITLE: Campus Security Guard
SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Level F (10-month position)
POSITION SUPERVISOR: Principal
GENERAL STATEMENT OF POSITIONS PURPOSE: To demonstrate a caring and understanding relationship with parents and students; to have a positive working relationship with the principal & staff; to maintain a high level of security; and assist in promoting a safe school environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND/ OR TRAINING:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- MSDS and blood borne pathogens training, desirable.
EXPERIENCE:
- No prior experience
- Experience working with adolescents preferred.
DEMONSTRATED KNOWLEDGE/PROFICIENCY OF EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, MATERIALS AND SKILLS:
- 2-way radio
- Electric cart
- Knowledge of best practices in building security and safety.
- Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and codes related to building safety and security including OSHA and Electronic Surveillance laws.
- Knowledge of security and alarm systems, electronic surveillance, and related safety and security devices.
- Ability to follow oral and written work orders from supervisor, and to coordinate work with principal and others.
- Ability to describe orally or in writing security problems as needed.
- Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to maintain a professional calm manner when challenged by students.
- Ability to communicate and work well with staff, parents and students.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES: These examples do not include all possible tasks in this work and do not limit the assignment of related tasks in any position of this class.
- Assists the building principal with requested/assigned duties
- Assists in keeping assigned building and premises, sidewalks, and driveways neat and clean during working hours
- Maintain assigned equipment
- Works directly with staff, students, and parents regarding security issues
- Patrols campus and parking lot
- Enforces Board policies regarding smoking, parking, loitering, trespassing, theft, vandalism, property damage, alcohol, drug abuse, and other school rules and regulations.
- Assists with set-up and clean-up for meetings and sports activities
- Ensures that all paperwork dealing with students is properly documented
- May be required to alter working hours to perform regularly assigned duties
- Reports concerns and incidents which may require corrective action to Building Security Supervisor and Principal.
- Encourages appropriate student conduct with regard to school rules and regulations.
- Assists visitors to the school in receiving proper direction, assists in maintaining log of all visitors and prevents unauthorized persons from entering the building.
- Monitors exits and prevents unauthorized exits of the building by students.
- Checks student passes when classes are in session; escorts students to and from Principal’s offices as directed.
- Assists school administrators with investigations as assigned.
- Physically separates students involved in altercations and maintains crowd control as needed in accordance with established guidelines regarding the use of force.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Interact primarily with students, staff and general public.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Periodic exposure to hazardous materials such as blood borne pathogens, high voltage, gases or heights.
- Works in standard school building environment
- Occasional work in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain and or snow.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.30 - $22.80 per hour
