Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is seeking to create an eligibility list for future vacancies in the role of Airport Security Specialist.
Under the general direction of a Sergeant, performs work of a responsible nature related to security functions at the St. Petersburg Clearwater International Airport. Work is performed in accordance with Sheriff’s Office rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Members are expected to work with some independence. Work is reviewed through observation and results obtained.
Shift Work Required.
SUPERVISES OTHERS: No
- Assists in security at secured airport access points throughout the St. Petersburg Clearwater International Airport facility by conducting security screening of persons and items; to include inspection of persons and property to identify prohibited items
- Verifies that all airport personnel and visitors seeking entry to the secured airport access points are in possession of an appropriately displayed SIDA Badge, or escorted by an authorized member in possession of a SIDA Badge with escort privileges
- Monitors airport surveillance cameras, security gates and electronic doors, fire alarm systems, and intercom/public address systems
- Communicates effectively via agency radio with deputies assigned to airport
- Assists with terminal curbside crosswalk traffic control when necessary or directed
- Responsible for enforcement of parking fees and accessing fines for noncompliant vehicles
- Responds to emergencies to provide assistance and initiate emergency procedures based on standard policies or regulations
- Regular and reliable attendance is required as an essential function of the position
- This position may be considered essential and, in the event of an emergency or natural disaster, may be required to report to work
- Participates in Sheriff’s Office recruitment and community relations activities as directed
