The Iowa Judicial Branch has an opening for a Security Officer to join our team!

The pay range for this position is $21.42 - $33.86 per hour, paid on a bi-weekly basis of 80 hours per pay period. The starting pay is expected to be at the base of the pay range. Adjustments may be made if the successful applicant has relevant experience.
Summary
Ensure the security and safety of all personnel, visitors, and premises of the Iowa Judicial Branch building.
Examples Of Duties And Responsibilities
Perform regular inspections of the Iowa Judicial Branch building and monitor entrances to the building to ensure compliance with security procedures and protocols. Secure doors and gates. Clear building visitors at the end of each day and secure all exit doors.
Prevent the passage of prohibited articles into the building with inspections, surveillance
equipment, and security protocols according to policies and procedures.
Monitor the area for disruptions or unlawful activity.
Respond and investigate security incidents, complaints, emergencies, accidents, and/or
violations of security-related policies and procedures.
Assist in emergencies, building evacuations, and other safety precautions (e.g. tornado
warnings, disaster drills, etc.).
Escort and secure assigned judicial officers and key leaders during events or travel, as needed.
Liaise services with law enforcement agencies, vendors, and contractors.
Prepare reports on security operations and incidents.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Knowledge of applicable security policies and protocols.
Knowledge of and familiarity with problems that arise in safeguarding buildings and grounds,
and the procedures used in dealing with them.
Ability to operate surveillance equipment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to be alert and maintain situational awareness of surroundings for extended periods.
Ability to respond to increased security incidents or emergency situations.
Ability to handle potentially confrontational situations.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Working Conditions
May include some evening shifts and occasional travel, usually within the state.
May include long periods of standing.
Exposure to risk of illness and injury from situations that may be hostile and dangerous.
This is a non-merit position with the Iowa Judicial Branch .

Minimum Qualification Requirements
The incumbent must meet the minimum requirements to qualify for the position.
- Law Enforcement Academy graduate, or equivalent training.
- Five (5) years’ experience in the law enforcement field.
The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain CPR/AED certification.
