Armed security guard position patrols the clinic premises, monitors surveillance systems, responds to emergencies and incidents, de-escalates conflicts, controls access, and collaborates with staff and law enforcement to ensure safety for patients, staff, and visitors. Key responsibilities: writing detailed reports, enforcing clinic policies, assisting with patient and visitor management and participating in safety drills.
Core Responsibilities
Patrol & Monitor: Conduct routine patrols of the clinic and grounds, observing for suspicious activity, maintenance issues, or hazards. Monitor security cameras and other systems to maintain awareness of the facility's state.
Incident Response: Respond quickly and effectively to a conflict de-escalation using verbal de-escalation skills to resolve conflicts, manage agitated or aggressive patients and visitors, and maintain a safe environment for everyone.
Access Control: Control access to sensitive areas within the clinic to prevent unauthorized entry.
Communication: Maintain clear communication with clinic staff, other security personnel, and law enforcement during critical incidents.
Documentation: Prepare accurate and detailed reports on incidents, observations, and actions taken to document events and ensure proper follow-up.
Policy Enforcement: Enforce clinic policies and procedures to ensure a secure environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Armed Qualification: Legally possess a duty-appropriate firearm, have experience with firearms, and hold required certifications, such as a taser certification.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting and interacting with diverse groups of people. Abiding by the clinic’s “no engagement” policy regarding protesters.
Customer Service: Courteous and respectful engagement with patients and visitors, providing assistance and directions as needed.
Observation: Keen observational skills to identify potential security and safety issues.
Calmness Under Duress: The ability to remain calm, make quick decisions, and act effectively in stressful situations.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in using security technology, including surveillance systems, access control, and communication tools.
Background: Legally authorized to work in the U.S. and able to pass a thorough criminal background check and urinalysis.
General Physical Capabilities
The armed clinic security guard must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform activities like bending, crouching, and running to respond to emergencies and patrol the premises. While specific tests vary, general requirements include assessing stamina, agility, strength, and the ability to handle high-stress situations while remaining alert.
Stamina and Endurance: The role requires patrolling the clinic property and standing for long durations.
Mobility: Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and crouch to navigate the interior and exterior clinic environment and respond to calls.
Strength: Need to lift and carry equipment or individuals, requiring the ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
Agility and Speed: In emergency situations, speed and agility are crucial for quickly responding to incidents, which might involve sprints or quick movements.
Job Demands: Clinic security guard must be in good physical condition to effectively perform their duties.
Emergency Response: The job may require intervening in tense situations, restraining individuals, or evacuating people during emergencies.
Responsibility: A guard's physical fitness is essential for protecting the people and property of the clinic.
