Job:
The Security Officer supports a safe, secure, and welcoming environment across SDFC facilities, including training operations, residential areas, staff workplaces, and visitor spaces. This role coordinates security services, monitors surveillance systems, and responds to safety, medical, and security-related incidents involving players, students, staff, and guests.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Guest, Staff & Player Support
- Provide a professional and approachable security presence for players, students, staff, visitors, and vendors
- Assist with directions, access questions, and general facility support
- Respond to medical incidents, behavioral concerns, safety issues, or potential criminal activity
- Document incidents clearly and accurately
Safety & Compliance
- Identify and report safety hazards across facilities, grounds, and operational areas
- Enforce facility safety rules, access policies, and security procedures
- Respond to accidents and emergencies, including administering first aid when appropriate
- Support emergency response procedures including fire alarms and evacuations
Security Operations & Communications
- Receive and dispatch calls for assistance via radio and telephone
- Monitor alarm systems, fire panels, access control systems, and radio activity
- Track officer locations and coordinate response as needed
- Contact emergency services or law enforcement when required
- Maintain daily activity logs and shift pass-down reports
Surveillance & Facility Protection
- Monitor surveillance systems covering training facilities, residential spaces, offices, parking areas, entrances/exits, and other secured locations
- Observe and report suspicious behavior, safety concerns, or unusual activity involving visitors, staff, players, or students
- Support protection of SDFC property, assets, and facilities
Patrol & Traffic Support
- Conduct routine patrols of buildings, grounds, and parking areas
- Monitor visitor entry and facility access points
- Assist with traffic flow during events, team activities, or peak operational hours
- Provide vehicle assistance when appropriate
- Enforce facility parking policies
Education & Experience
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 3 months of experience in security or a related field
- Guest service or public-facing experience
Preferred:
- Experience in a campus, sports facility, residential, or multi-use environment
- Emergency dispatch experience
- Law enforcement or POST certification
- Surveillance monitoring experience
Skills & Knowledge
Required:
- First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain shortly after hire)
- Basic knowledge of security procedures and emergency response
- Ability to interact calmly and professionally with diverse populations
- Ability to document factual information from radio and telephone communications
- Ability to operate communication and surveillance equipment
- Ability to assess non-routine situations and make sound judgments
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to provide clear instructions and de-escalate situations
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to maintain professionalism, composure, and confidentiality
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to follow verbal and written directions
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours)
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
Preferred:
- Multilingual skills
- Knowledge of CCTV systems
- Experience working in environments that include youth, athletes, and public visitors
