Job Overview
A Security Guard is responsible for protecting people, property, and assets by maintaining a safe and secure environment. Their duties include patrolling assigned areas, responding to emergencies that is called over the radio, and reporting suspicious activity or security incidents. Security Guard needs to have Strong observation skills, professionalism, communication abilities, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential in this role. Security Guards may work in a variety of settings.
Duties
- Control access to the premises by verifying credentials of employees, visitors, contractors, and vendors. .
- Respond promptly to calls that are called over the radios, coordinating with law enforcement or emergency services when necessary.
- Assist in conflict management by de-escalating tense situations with professionalism and calmness.
- Create and maintain a safe environment for visitors, employees, vendors, and guests at all times.
- Monitor crowd activity and enforce venue rules, policies, and safety procedures during events, festivals, private functions, bars, clubs, and residential gatherings.
- Conduct routine patrols of entrances, exits, parking areas, VIP sections, backstage areas, and surrounding property to identify and address safety concerns.
- Perform bag checks, ID verification, and security screenings when required by the venue or event organizer.
- Assist with securing restricted or VIP areas and monitoring alcohol-related disturbances when necessary.
- Remain alert and prepared to respond quickly and effectively to medical emergencies, altercations, or other incidents.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of security procedures, safety protocols, and emergency response practices.
- Previous security experience is preferred but not required.
- A valid PERC Card is preferred but not mandatory.
- Proficiency in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques to effectively and safely manage disputes or disturbances.
- CPR and First Aid certification is preferred, but not required.
- Excellent observation and surveillance skills with the ability to remain alert and attentive throughout long shifts.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods without difficulty.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear reporting and effective interaction with team members, guests, management, and emergency responders.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure or emergency situations.
- Reliable, dependable, and able to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, holidays, festivals, and special events.
- Ability to follow instructions, enforce policies, and work independently or as part of a team.
