Harrogate is a seeking a per diem Security Guard to work OVERNIGHT 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. every other Tuesday overnight into Wednesday, every other Thursday overnight into Friday and every other weekend (Friday overnight into Saturday and Saturday overnight into Sunday). This schedule offers 16 hours per week. Availability to work additional days or shifts to cover vacations or other vacancies in work schedule a plus.
This is not a gatehouse guard position. Our security guards perform foot tours internally within our community and exterior tours by company vehicle. A valid driver's license in good standing is required. The ability to respond to emergencies quickly is required.
Work availability is needed to train in order to get the selected candidate comfortable and acclimated to our community. Significant training is involved to learn the layout of the building, emergency procedures and our various alarm systems. The selected candidate will need to have some availability to train during the week to get the training required to work on their own. Availability could be on the day shift during the week or the evening shift during the week (or both).
More About the Position: Our security schedule is a 24/7 operation. Shifts are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. and 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. The Security Guard is responsible for protecting the people and property within our upscale continuing care retirement community in Ocean County. The position takes tour of the community, performs wellness checks of residents when requested, performs light maintenance tasks when needed including the breakdown and set up of activity functions and events. The Security Guard position requires dependability, a compassion to work with seniors and the ability to respond to emergencies quickly. Again, this is NOT a sit down position nor security gate operations.
The Harrogate community consists of 252 independent living senior apartments plus a 68 skilled nursing facility. Harrogate is a home-like setting with co-workers that work as a team to ensure security coverage is met 24/7. Located on the border of Toms River and Lakewood, Harrogate offers a serene and comfortable work environment.
SORA certification a plus but not required. Experience in Security is not a requirement but helpful. Dependability is a MUST. CPR certification is required but not needed as a condition to hire as Harrogate sponsors the class generally twice a year. A NJ Driver's License in good standing IS required. Because we are a highly compromised community (including nursing home), influenza vaccination is required which we may provide on site and at no cost during flu season.
