The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for two security supervisors to monitor all activity in an assigned location. Ensures that security officers are following all established departmental policies. Responds to all emergencies in assigned area.
Responsibilities
- Drives the implementation of the Security department’s strategic plan, including all resources, processes, systems, and functions to maintain and effectively safeguard the Museum, its’ employees, trustees, visitors, physical properties, and the art.
- Supervises assigned staff on a daily basis, providing relevant training, feedback, guidance, professional development, etc.; ensures compliance with and comprehension of Museum policies and relevant collective bargaining agreement.
- Takes appropriate corrective action to improve employee performance. Fosters good relations within the Security department with both union and non-union members.
- Formally evaluates employees’ performance, providing coaching and feedback.
- Resolves employee work-related problems and issues as it relates to security officer assignments.
- Works collaboratively with a diverse and multicultural community.
- Ensures that communication and documentation are complete as it relates to daily operations and personnel management.
- Performs any other duties reasonably related to the functions described above.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent (some college preferred). New York State Guard certificate.
- CPR/AED/FSD certification preferred, but training will be provided.
- Three to five years lead or supervisory experience. Minimum five years experience in the Security field.
- Experience in cultural, educational, or large public access locations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to supervise security officers.
- Ability and/or experience in responding to and handling emergency situations, and to multi-task as a console operator when needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other standard office procedures and equipment.
- Ability to walk/stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work a five-day work week, which includes Saturdays and Sundays.
- Demonstrated knowledge of security practices, including emergency response.
- Basic first aid/CPR knowledge and AED certification. Fire Safety Director certification or ability to complete certification. Applied knowledge of fire-life-safety systems and other related security devices.
- If hired, the individual must successfully complete a security threat assessment through the Department of Homeland Security.
Salary: The salary for this position is $71,000 per annum.
