As an Unarmed Security Officer, you will play an essential role in this mission and be a part of our growing organization. You will be responsible for protecting patients, visitors, caregivers, and hospital property by conducting regular patrols and enforcing facility policies.
A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday, 10:00pm-6:30am with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Protect patients, visitors and employees by providing escorts, patrolling grounds, and eliminating safety hazards.
- Deter vandalism, theft and property abuse through routine patrols of all hospital property to include inside areas as well as all parking lots and decks.
- Conduct searches of belongings as required.
- Enforce Cleveland Clinic facility policies e.g. parking regulations, visitation policies, drug enforcement, smoking policy.
- Monitor facility activity on closed circuit television to be alerted to any escalating situations that may require security involvement.
- Intervene in patient, visitor and/or staff confrontations as appropriate.
- Complete appropriate documentation of various incidents.
- Demonstrate understanding of emergency procedures, alarm response, evacuation and internal and external disaster plans.
- Follow health system and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.
- Complete mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements to include de-escalation training provided by department within the first 6 months of hire and as required thereafter.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School diploma or GED
- Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license (VDL) and maintain eligibility of insurability to operate the organizations’ vehicles
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Critical thinking and decisive judgment skills
- Can work with minimal supervision
- Can communicate in a courteous and direct manner
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- OPOTC (Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission) approved Private Security Academy
1 year of previous experience in the field of criminal justice
Physical Requirements:
- Typical physical demands require full body motion, physical strength and stamina sufficient to chase, apprehend and subdue criminal suspects, and respond to crisis interventions and medical emergencies.
- Requires extensive walking and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- Must have good eye/hand coordination and able to pass annual eye (with appropriate corrections) and hearing tests.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $15.75
Maximum hourly: $21.65
