Duties & Responsibilities
Purpose of Position:
Under supervision, performs routine security inspections of buildings and grounds to prevent trespassing, property damage or loss. Performs related work as required.
Examples Of Typical Tasks
- Conducts periodic tours of buildings and grounds to inspect doors, windows, gates, locks and equipment.
- Monitors for unauthorized entry, fire hazards, leaks from water or steam lines, and other conditions which might result in property damage or loss.
- Maintains order by preventing trespassing and discouraging loitering.
- Responds to incoming telephone calls and doorbells.
- Operates elevators during emergency situations.
- May operate heating equipment as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid New York State Security Guard registration card issued by the Department of State; and
- Satisfactory completion of a 16-hour On-the-Job Training (OJT) course within ninety (90) days of employment.
Special Note
Employees in this title are required to complete an 8-hour in-service training course within one (1) calendar year of completion of the 16-hour OJT course, and annually thereafter.
