Summary/General Responsibilities:
This position is under the supervision of the Director of Safety for assigned shifts of the security department. Responsible for the protection, monitoring, safeguarding and security of clients, staff, visitors, property and facility to assure the safe operation of the facility in accordance with Convent Avenue Family Living Center’s Policies and Procedures.
Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Screens all visitors, issue passes and check identification.
- Keeps a written record of all visitors including name, address, time of arrival and departure, and relocatee being visited.
- Maintains a site security log, recording any security related incidents that occur during that shift and recording the date, time and name of inspector performing the inspection.
- Investigates and writes reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards and other security related situations.
- Provides any needed assistance to customers, employees and visitors following CAFLC's procedures. Serves as training officer to new security staff.
- Directs and if necessary, escort visitors to the appropriate relocatees’s apartment.
- Enforces Family Center Housing Rules.
- Protects the HPD offices from intrusion by vandals and unauthorized persons.
- Guards against loitering, theft, personal assaults and all other types of suspicious, wrongful or unlawful acts.
- Makes periodic tours or rounds of the site and immediately report to the Contractor the presence of any unauthorized person or incident, which could cause or bring about harm to damage to the site or property thereon.
- Guards will execute their duties and responsibilities in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Wears Security Guard Appropriate Attire/Accompaniment.
- Each guard will be appropriately dressed in a uniform. Guards will wear shoes. Uniforms will be neat and clean at all times and appropriate for whatever working and weather conditions will be encountered by the guard.

Work Environment
The employee does not work in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. The position regularly works in outside conditions that include inclement weather and heat and humidity.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. 35 hours per week. Days and shift may vary during the week. Occasional weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- New York State Security Guard License required
- At least 1 year or more experience working in security or law enforcement is preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients or diverse background
- Good interpersonal and writing skills
