Overview:
Kingsbridge Heights Community Center (KHCC) is a 51 year old multi-service not-for-profit organization based on the settlement house model and located in the Bronx. We provide resources for Bronx residents from cradle to career to advance education and well-being for a vibrant community. KHCC serves over 5,000 families annually with an inclusive environment for children with special needs, low-income families, recent immigrants, survivors of sexual and domestic abuse, and at-risk teens. KHCC helps participants overcome adversity and develop the skills they need to build bright futures.
KHCC is seeking one (1) uniformed, licensed Security Guard to provide a safe and welcoming environment for our community center. The guard will be responsible for facility security, visitor management, and emergency response while maintaining a youth friendly, community oriented presence.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor facility entrances and exits; manager visitor sign-in procedures
- Conduct regular interior and exterior facility patrols
- Respond to incidents, emergencies and safety concerns
- Enforce facility policies in a respectful and community oriented manner.
- Provide assistance to staff, visitors and program participants
- Complete detailed incident reports and daily activity logs
- Coordinate with local law enforcement when necessary
- Maintain awareness of youth safety protocols and mandatory reporting requirements.
- Operate security equipment, including surveillance systems and communication devices.
Qualifications:
- Current NYS Security Guard license
- Minimum one (1) year of documented experience providing security services in educational institutions, community centers, youth serving organizations, or similar environments.
- CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire
- Excellent interpersonal and deescalation skills
- Experience working with diverse populations, particularly youth and families; non-profit and community based settings preferred.
- Training in crisis intervention, youth development approaches, or trauma informed practice is helpful.
- Bilingual Spanish speakers encouraged to apply
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; handle, or feel; talk, hear, smell or taste. On rare occasions it may be necessary to move quickly, run, etc. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Schedule:
- 25-30 hours /week + as needed Monday-Friday 2:30-6:30; Saturdays 11am-3pm
- + Different work schedule as agreed during full-day camps when schools are closed (one-one week in February and April and summer) + as needed.
